Stampin Up Number of Years Masculine Card

The old story of how difficult it is to make good masculine cards. Now for someone who doesn't like the old fashioned ships, planes etc, the Number of Years bundle is fab. Stamp set and matching dies 140811 bundle with a saving of 15% is £44 It is great for birthdays, anniversaries or any other special date.

So it is my son's 35th birthday next months so I made this card using the Number of Years and the Timeless Textures for the background.  It has come out really well and using various tones of blues really makes the card pop.

So don't ever get stuck with a masculine birthday card. Think outside the box and create something like this.

Stampin Up Working with textures and colours.

Putting a card together can be great fun, but I bet quite a few of you have sat with a blank work table just wondering where to start and what to do. So where do you start? Some start with a colour, or a piece of designer series paper. Today I decided to start with some burlap.  I adore the natural texture of the burlap ribbon (it's retiring and is on the retirement list so grab it before it's gone )

So with the piece of burlap down the centre of the card, I toned in the background using Timeless Textures a must have series of background stamps and used crumb cake. However I wanted just a splash of colour, so teamed the balloon sentiment and background spots in rose red which tied it all together.  A few pearls and candy dots and voila a card with texture, colour and depth.

All Stampin Up products are available through the link above and when ordering please use me Jane Allmark as your demonstrator of choice. Retired products are going super fast, as there are some bargains to be had to do hurry.

Stampin Up Timeless Textures

This is one of my favourite stamp sets as the backgrounds you can create are just lovely. The flower flourish is just lovely in blues and yellows for a fresh Spring feel. I then used the small dots in smoky slate to just tie all the white space together.  Simply mounted on a white cardstock blank and then embellished with a sentiment and a butterfly, this makes an easy yet very effective professional looking card.

All products used are from Stampin Up so check out the link above and when ordering please use me Jane Allmark as your demonstrator of choice.

Don't forget there are some retired products at the moment but they are selling fast so please do rush to order.

Stampin Up From Land To Sea

This is a lovely versatile stamp set and I really love the lanterns so I decided to make a make card using them.  I tore round the card edges and inked to give a textured feel and then mounted on some coordinating designer series paper in smoky slate.  The burlap is a lovely rustic textures so put this across the card and tore a sentiment to go one top.  Mounting the whole think on night of navy cardstock added just enough colour and I think it makes a great masculine card.

Stampin Up Curvy Trio Punch & Timeless Textures

I thought I would show you a girlie card using the timeless textures stamp set with wisteria wonder ink to create a lovely pale lilac background.  This teamed up with rich razzleberry is a lovely combination and I used some rich razzleberry cardstock for the butterfly.

By punching alternate corners with the curvy trio punch, I did each piece separately to give a slightly asymmetrical look.

Stampin Up Using ribbon & embellishments

Cards are fun to make and receive in all shapes and colours and sometimes it is those finishing touches or embellishments that you add that really makes a card. The sense of touch is sometimes lovely to add to a card by way of a piece of ribbon or a few pearls.

So today I am showing you 2 cards using ribbon in different ways.

The first card was one I showcased yesterday. I cut two pieces of totally different ribbon and used them as a banner cutting an inverted "V" from the bottom. This become the focal point for the card and all the other elements colour coordinated accordingly.
The second card is using a wide piece of ribbon across the bottom of the card and then tying a thinner piece across the middle.  Again both pieces of ribbon are totally different contrasting colours yet by thing everything in to the ribbon it coordinates perfectly.
My favourite stamp set for doing this is Timeless Textures and if you are a Gorgeous Grunge fan then this will just take backgrounds to the next level. I could use this set all the time.

So today I thought I would use the Timless Textures background stamps and create a lovely backdrop for this card.  I stamped the sentiment using the oval dies and dimensionals to make it pop. I used two different coloured ribbons for added texture and the effect was gorgeous.

Love these fresh Spring colours, I used crushed curry which matched the ribbon and various shades of blue marina mist and island indigo and the sentiment was in night of navy.

Stampin Up From Land to Sea

Morning. This stamp set is really lovely as it has a turtle and other nautical stamps which are good for those make cards which can be so difficult to do.
I coloured and cut out the turtle to give a bit of depth and set it on some of the now retired sale a Bration dsp which is really quite sea like. The trio corner punch gives a good finish and I put a couple of pearls in the corners, although these could be removed for a really masculine look. With a piece of ribbon and a nice sentiment, this makes for a different card, but works really well.

Stampin Up Creating your own backgrounds.

Morning everyone. What a lovely weekend it is proving to be. Weather has been really spring like with sunshine and the lighter evenings are really fab.

Today I thought I'd talk about backgrounds. Creating a background is fun, easy and totally unique. It is a great way to colour coordinate or to just add a different dimension or texture to a card.

I have recently bought some burlap ribbon. It's a huge one and a quarter inches wide catalogue number 132140 is 4.6m long so if perfect as a border or wide trim on a card. As I'm not too much of a ribbon person as is a little twee for me this burlap is right up my street.
The background I used crumb cake probably the best neutral colour as goes with everything. Primrose petals added the colour accent to tone with the balloon. Pearls and candy dots added the final touch.

Simple, pretty with loads of texture a really fun card to do.
