How to create a stunning background using Stampin Up Brusho, Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint & Winter Woods

Creating backgrounds for cards can be great fun and easy to achieve lots of different looks.  In this tutorial and accompanying video I have used great quality watercolour paper as my base.  By using a good heavy weight water colour paper you achieve some lovely results as the water does not pill or breakdown the paper, which can happen if you use an inferior paper.

Brusho, five little pots of concentrated powdered ink, in this first example I have just used the Brilliant Red.  I will also show you in a further blog another lovely example using the Prussian Blue, so pop back to see this.

Vegsas Gold Shimmer Paint adds the gold shimmer and tones in beautifully with the Brusho.

To make the little frames I used the Stitched Shapes Framelitswhich are gorgeous circles, squares and oval dies, four of each shape with a pretty stitched border.

and finally the gorg0eus Winter Woods Bundle. If you love everything trees, then this is the bundle for you.

So here is a step by step video tutorial to show you how to make this lovely background and frame to put it in.  Please look at subscribing to my YouTube channel so you don't miss any up and coming videos.  I post regularly and have over 100 current videos with lots of tips and ideas for your crafting.

Thank you for stopping by and look forward to seeing you again soon.  Oh don't forget I will be posting another tutorial showing you what I did with the Prussian Blue Brusho with the Shimmer paint.  If you love snowflakes then you won't want to miss this one.

Stampin Up Winter Woods - using scraps to create a fun patterned tree.

WINTER WOODS is a great bundle which if you buy now you sane 10%

Ever wondered what yo do with all those scraps? This is a fun way to create some lovely quilted style patterns on any die cut you choose.

This example is with Winter Woods

Here I have created two different patterns by using scraps of dsp, four different papers and cut them in strips of 4" x 1/4 and folded them in half and burnished them well.

Using the reverse side of your cardstock place the papers in sequence in a symmetrical pattern to achieve a quilted overlapping effect.

Follow the video below to see step by step instructions.  I have made this video is real time from start to finish so feel free to fast forward where necessary.

Finish with a sentiment, some ribbon and a few sequins or embellishments of your choice to create a fun and different Christmas card.

Stampin Up Winter Woods Autumn sunset using torn paper technique

WINTER WOODS is one of my favourite stamp sets and dies from the Autumn/Winter catalogue as who doesn't love the versatility of trees.

Autumn is now upon us and the trees are losing their leaves and the evening are drawing in.  With this comes the most beautiful sunsets, as this card was inspired by those sunsets.

Watch the video to see how I created this card.  To buy the products used go to my SHOP at the top of this page.

Stampin Up Winter Woods - how to get birch trees to stand out

I love trees and everything to do with woods, so when Stampin Up brought out the Winter Woods Bundle I knew I had to get it.

So it arrived today and it is just fantastic.  The first thing I wanted to try was to use the silver birches and try and get them to stand out from the background.  So this is my first way of achieving this.

I used the Merry Merlow copper reversible ribbon which worked beautifully with the Tranquil Tide and the lovely leaf which is a die in the set and creates a leaf with embossed veins.  I cut the sentiment down so it just said Thinking of You. Merry Merlot Copper Reversible Ribbon

Here is the video to show you exactly what I did.
